ART FROM GREENLAND
This category includes greenlandic inspired pictorial artworks, litterature relatede to Greenland and craft works with greenlandic origin.
The hunting culture, a challenging climate and geography have been the foundation for greenlandic art, whether it was expressed by the Inuits or "foreign-mainly danish" artisans.
A significant number of danish artisans have stayed shorter or longer in Greenland in the past 150 years. Theire fascination of the Greenland reality is expressed in scenary and daily life pictorials with an often culture-historical significance.
The Inuits had in the past only a limited tradition for pictorial art, but within theire hunting culture were focusing on crafts from carvings on bone or in soapstone often using legends and myths as inspiration.
